Establish a functional airway and habit correction<\/h4>\n

The\u00a0Myosa<\/em>\u00ae<\/sup>for<\/em>\u00a0TMJBDS<\/em>\u00ae<\/sup>S1<\/em>\u00a0is used in patients with a Breath Hold Time of 25 seconds or more. It works by advancing the sleeper\u2019s lower jaw and opening the bite, which has the effect of opening the airway. Additionally, the\u00a0S1<\/em>\u00a0has four breathing holes at the front to regulate breathing, as well as an air spring base to cushion the jaw joint. For better retention during sleep, the patient can use the mouldable version of the\u00a0S1<\/em>\u00a0appliance (S1M<\/em>). Progress to the\u00a0S2<\/em>\u00a0when the patient\u2019s BHT reaches 35 seconds or more.<\/p>\n

S1 Design Features<\/h4>\n

The design features of the\u00a0S1<\/em>\u00a0open the airway and provide comfort for the TMJs in patients with moderate BDS.<\/p>\n

    Directions for Use<\/h2>\n

    The\u00a0Myosa<\/em>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0appliance is to be used for one to two hours each day, plus overnight while sleeping. The patient’s teeth may become slightly sensitive in the early stages of treatment. This is quite normal, however, if pain becomes excessive, decrease application time with the aim to build it back up once the appliance is accustomed to and sensitivity subsides. The\u00a0Myosa<\/em>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0appliance may change the position of the teeth and jaws, though the flexibility of the appliance minimises this potential.<\/p>\n

    Hold the\u00a0Myosa<\/em>\u00ae<\/sup> appliance with the tongue tag facing up.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    Close down on the\u00a0Myosa<\/em>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0appliance and feel it working to align your front teeth and jaws.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    The\u00a0Myosa<\/em>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0appliance should be cleaned under warm running water every time the patient removes it from their mouth.<\/p>\n
